Horror means something different to everyone. While some people will yawn at blood and dismembered bodies, subtle gore-free horror will leave them lying awake in bed for a fortnight. For others, a dismembered body or evil child leaves them deeply unsettled in ways they can’t explain, even though they know “it’s not real.” Whatever gets your heart rate up, we’re pretty sure you’ll find something on this list to suit the bill. So invite some friends over, order a pizza, and pop in a selection from our list of 25 Best Horror Films To Keep You Awake All Night (and no, we didn’t even include the 2016 US presidential election).
Obligatory Common Sense Disclaimer: All of these movies are intended for a mature audience. Do not watch them with your child or your grandmother; do not watch them at all if dirty words and dismembered body parts give you a case of the vapors.

ive had sleep paralysis before seriously not cool at all i was laying on my side in bed and i woke up but couldnt move at all and i felt this heavy presence holding my entire body down i couldnt see or do anything and there was also this wave of fear and depression unlike anything ive ever felt before that came over me and could feel and hear something whispering in my ear although it was not comprehensible and this went on for about 10-15 mins of straight terror and praying to god before i could move again i honestly believe this cant be explained by science because there is no way in hell that wasnt supernatural

ok here is the deal pal …most of the movies that you have listed are classics yes and they definitely added alot to the horror genre .
However in todays day and age almost 75% of the movies you ve listed either arent scary or mediocre at best .

When it comes to horror genre you gotta pass the whole classic worship … THEY ARE NOT SCARY .

Ofcourse there would be people still scared of them …apparently the neck bearded dude that hosted the list is one of them..

Being a sceptic and atheist has its down sides and one of them is to lose all sense of fear through the horror genre …my favourite

I want to say that I have seen all of these films. As each definitely has it’s moments, it is funny that the original Night of the living dead watched with the lights off in the dead of night makes me squirm the most. Oh yeah the original Funny Games was pretty screwed up too. And how about Dog eat dog ? I’ve spent a great deal of my life watching horror films. My absolute favorite of all film genres 🙂

turn on all the lights in the house except for the ones in the rooms I’m in.
After the movie, watch meme, vine, or _____ on crack compilations.

  46. JUKENZ says:

I am horror junkie and I can say no other scary movie scaries me as much as candy man

  47. Shrigis says:

I watched "The Host" and liked it, but I don’t understand the adulation it receives. It’s obviously VERY well made: the characters are relatable so you care what happens to them, the cinematography is excellent, and it has a satisfying ending. Unfortunately I think it just didn’t do it for me on a visceral level. I can’t really put my finger on why, but I don’t find myself recommending it to anyone. Everyone told me that it was so much better than Snowpiercer, but I liked Snowpiercer a lot more.

Oh well. Different strokes and all that.

  48. Under My Skin says:
