30 Years of Garbage: The Garbage Pail Kids Story is a Documentary on Counter-culture and the Rise of Collectibles

West Hollywood, California (Tuesday, August 8th) – Indican Pictures is set to release the pivotal documentary on the Garbage Pail Kids. Titled 30 Years of Garbage: The Garbage Pail Kids Story, this documentary revisits the artists, who made these collectibles famous. Showing a rare glimpse into the corporate culture of Topps as they launched Garbage Pail Kids through the height of the cards fame, the downfall from the legal battle with the Cabbage Patch kids and their untimely demise. The film is jam packed with interviews of over a half dozen artists. Each artist penned these counter-culture trading cards and each artist gives you the inside story of why these cards poked fun at: the collectibles’ movement, the 80’s culture of greed and gave kids a unique piece of historical fun. This documentary interviews actors from the ‘80s film, Garbage Pail Kids the Movie (1987). Interviews take place with: Mackenzie Astin, Debbie Lee Carrington and others. It also includes interviews with Pulitzer-prize winning novelist Art Spiegelman, Pumpkinhead screenwriter Gary Gerani, comic book artists Tom Bunk and John Pound. It even includes an interview with TV producer Adam F. Goldberg (creator of the Goldbergs TV Series). Many of the artists from the original series are revisited, for their take on what made these cards so popular. The film also includes collectors, of the cards, who share their nostalgic memories and collections with the world, in this one-of-a-kind documentary. All of these people and more give their take on what made The Garbage Pail Kids so famous, such a worldwide sensation.

30 Years of Garbage: The Garbage Pail Kids Story hits theatres this summer in select cities. Indican Pictures will launch this title in several theatres, starting August 18th and continuing throughout the month of August and September. On 9/20/17, 30 Years of Garbage: The Garbage Pail Kids Story will show in front of an even larger audience as the film is launched nationwide, throughout the United States. The film’s official synopsis: In the 1980′s some eclectic underground cartoonists parodied a popular doll craze (whose name cannot be spoken…). The resulting pop culture commercial trading cards/stickers tapped into an international zeitgeist that was brewing in a young generation who felt that this product spoke to the revulsion they had for the corporate junk that was being fed to them. Learn the truth behind the myth of The Garbage Pail Kids, the lawsuit that ensued and the resulting iconic status!

Man Underground Searches for Answers in the Stars and in the Shadows

West Hollywood, California (Thursday, July 13th) – Indican Pictures is set to release Michael Borowiec and Sam Marine’s Man Underground. The film is a genre bender as a retired geologist attempts to discover extraterrestrial life. Having undergone illicit experiments, Willem hopes for vindication, in the stars. Man Underground’s cast includes: George Basil (“Crashing”), Andy Rocco (Teenage Vampire Killers from Hell) and Pamela Fila (“Law & Order SVU”). The trailer shows more of what Willem (Basil) has gone through. Scarred and broken, he has turned to conspiracy theories, in an attempt to deal with his pain. But, what if aliens do exist? Willem partners up with Todd (Rocco) and Flossie (Fila) to uncover the truth. They set out to discover what is out there, only to find, what is out there is watching them…

Man Underground has run the film festival circuit throughout 2016 and 2017. This year, the film opens in several theatres, commencing July 14th. The film’s official synopsis: In a small town in upstate NY, Willem Koda, a retired geologist and alien conspiracy theorist, struggles to find an audience for his controversial beliefs. Willem decides to document his clandestine lifestyle and his violent encounters with aliens while working for the US Government with the help of Flossie, a local waitress and Todd, his fellow conspirator. As the story unfolds, the three of them witness bizarre events and unexplained happenings that force Willem to confront his past while he grows increasingly paranoid about the future of all mankind.

Reality is Shattered with Andrew Finnigan’s Simple Creature this July 25th!

West Hollywood, California (Friday, July 7th) – Indican Pictures is set to release Andrew Finnigan’s Simple Creature this summer. The film is a modern telling of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein as the young Em is changed, forever, by technology. Though her life is saved, with help from a complex chip implant, Em’s life is no longer her own – after a brutal bus crash. Simple Creature stars Carollani Sandberg (All Things Hidden), D’angelo Madili (The Invoking), Russell Hodgkinson (“Z Nation”), Alycia Delmore (Grimm) and Tony Doupé (Wild) also star. Simple Creature is featured in the upcoming issue of SciFi Magazine. And, a preview of the film’s home entertainment launch is hosted here and the trailer, for Simple Creature, shows Em struggling with her new upgrade. Implanted with a new, advanced chip, she begins to experience reality differently. Not ready to let their experiment leave the lab, Em is pursued by the research team; however, the powers that be cannot allow Em to return to what she was before.

The film’s official synopsis: Techie college student, Em (Carollani Sandberg) heads home for holiday break, blissfully thinking about her new boyfriend is on the way. However, her life is put on hold when the bus she is taking crashes, nearly killing her. Em’s father, Roy (Tony Doupe) is grief stricken. He is also the head of an advanced genetics, nanotech, and robotics lab. Here, he is able to bring her back to normal, with additional technology-enhanced abilities. While Em struggles to find her humanity after being upgraded, Roy’s lab struggles to control their most successful experiment.
